Integration · Slack

Company Experts, right where work happens.

Ask Time Machine Experts without leaving Slack. One admin connects the workspace in about two minutes — then everyone uses /expert, an @mention, or a DM. Answers come from your knowledge base.

UI In Slack

The same help people see inside the app.

Slash commands for the default Expert or a named one, list Experts, and admin setup — all from Slack. Private to the user when it’s setup help; channel-visible when they ask a real question.

  • /expert
  • @mention · DM
  • /tm-setup

Why teams use it

Knowledge in the flow of work — not another tab.

Fewer “got a sec?” pings

Reps and partners get product, process, and deal answers from your Experts — without pulling managers into every question.

One setup for the whole workspace

An admin connects once with an API key. Individual users need zero configuration to start asking.

Your Experts, your data

The bot only reaches your company’s Experts and knowledge. Channel Q&A is visible to the channel; DMs stay private.

How people ask

Three ways to get an answer.

Same Experts you use in the product — available in the tools your team already opens all day.

Slash command

/expert — works in any channel

No bot invite required. Your question and the answer post in the channel so teammates learn too.

  • /expert How do we price multi-site deals?
  • /expert as Pricing Expert: What’s our floor for enterprise?
  • /expert list — Experts available to your company (visible only to you)
  • /expert help
@mention

In channels where the bot is invited

Invite with /invite @Time Machine Expert. The bot reacts while thinking, answers in a thread, then marks done.

  • @Time Machine Expert What integrations do we support?
  • @Time Machine Expert [Expert Name] … to target a specific Expert
Direct message

Private answers

DM the bot any question for a private reply. Send help or hi for a short usage guide. Prefer DMs when the answer shouldn’t live in a channel.

Get started

Admin setup · ~2 minutes, once.

Requires permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. After this, the whole team can ask.

2

Create an API key

In Time Machine (web.timeml.ai) go to Settings → API Keys, create a key, and copy it (shown once). Tip: name it “Slack”.

3

Connect & pick a default Expert

In any Slack channel (responses are visible only to you):

/tm-setup token <your_api_key>
/tm-setup expert Your Expert Name

Optional: /tm-setup status · /tm-setup test · /tm-setup clear to disconnect.

Good to know

  • Answers take a few seconds while the Expert searches your knowledge base; each reply is signed with the Expert name and timing.
  • Each question is standalone — include full context (up to 8,000 characters).
  • One connection per workspace; re-run /tm-setup token anytime to rotate keys.
  • If you see “workspace is not connected,” an admin still needs step 3 above.
Stack

Slack is one surface. Same learning system.

Experts in Slack sit alongside role-play practice, adaptive courses, REST API, MCP, Zapier, and Microsoft connectors.
